With a suitable compressor system, the required operating pressure of 6-14 bar is obtained. The compressed air is dried and delivered to the spray gun with a hose to prevent operating failures that may occur due to ice build-up. The pressure created by a transverse cutout delivers the CO2 particles in the carrier hose with the gun. These ice particles are squeezed onto the part to be cleaned with a great pressure and the cleaning process is carried out.

Grundprinzipien des Managements

Das Grundmerkmal der Trockeneis-Reinigungsmethode beruht auf der Verwendung von Kohlendioxid (CO2) -Gas bei 0,03% an Luft. Das Kohlendioxidgas hat eine kalte Temperatur von -78 ° C unter normalen Bedingungen in der Atmosphäre. Diese Glasur verfestigt sich bei einer bestimmten Temperatur von der Gasform. Dieser feste Zustand des Gases wird in der populären Sprache als “Trockeneis” bezeichnet. Das CO2-Gas, das in die Poren der Eismaschine gesprüht wird, wird durch eine gewisse Hitze in Frost umgewandelt. Das so erhaltene Trockeneis wird mit einem Druck von 100-300 m / s auf die zu reinigende Oberfläche aufgesprüht. Aufgrund der kinetischen Energie, die aus der Trockeneis-Explosionskombination freigesetzt wird, werden unerwünschte Schichten und Schmutz auf den verschmutzten Oberflächen gereinigt.

Die Verwendung dieser Methode in der industriellen Reinigung ist attraktiver als andere Reinigungsmethoden. Aufgrund der Methode werden die organischen Lösungsmittel und schädlichen Kohlenwasserstoffe, die für die Umwelt schädlich sind, durch andere Reinigungsmethoden deaktiviert. Es gibt nur noch wenige Reste, die durch die Entfernung von Schichten und Schmutz zurückbleiben. Darüber hinaus wirkt sich dieses Verfahren nur auf die obere Oberfläche der zu reinigenden Formen aus und es gibt keine Nebenwirkung mit Parametern, die die Eigenschaften der Formen verändern werden.

Cleaning processes are an important part of industrial production.

In addition to mechanical and chemical cleaning methods, there are a whole range of processes that use water, sand, plastic or glass beads as blasting agents. The disadvantages of these methods are that the abrasive nature of the blasting agents causes wear, they incur costs for disposal and treatment of the contaminated blasting agents, and they involve downtimes for the production facilities.

Cleaning with dry ice pellets offers an alternative that is kind to both materials and the environment.

Information about the blasting medium and how it works:


The blasting medium
Liquid carbon dioxide is stored in a low-pressure tank at approximately 20 bar and at a temperature of around -20°C. When sprayed into a pelletising cylinder, it forms carbon dioxide gas and carbon dioxide snow as a result of cooling and expansion to the ambient pressure. This snow, which has a temperature of approximately -78°C, is compacted and then pressed through a pelletising matrix. This produces dry ice pellets measuring around 3 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length.

How it works
The pellets are accelerated to 100 – 300 m/s using compressed air. They are then sprayed on to the surface to be cleaned by means of special nozzles. When this happens, the blast medium supercools the surface at specific points and removes unwanted coatings and impurities. It is the combination of cold temperatures, kinetic energy and an “explosive” change of state (sublimation) by the dry ice pellets that makes this method particularly suitable for industrial cleaning processes.

In a Nutshell

Dry ice blasting is a state-of-the-art cleaning method that cleans and removes coatings from industrial machines and tools to a professional standard. CO2 is used as a blasting medium whenever a cleaning process is required that involves gentle surface treatment, a residue-free blasting agent and the avoidance of waste.

The low degree of hardness of the ice means sensitive tools can be cleaned without problems – even whilst they are still installed. Dry ice sublimes without leaving any residue. This means that the only waste produced during cleaning is the coating material that is removed.

Dry ice blasting technology is used, for example, wherever the following requirements apply:
